LEGO Power Miners loader by Marek Markiewicz

Like many adult fans of LEGO, Marek Markiewicz wasn’t convinced that the new LEGO Power Miners theme would work. Then Marek built this.

LEGO Power Miners mining loader

Marek calls his creation boring, but I don’t think heavy equipment can ever be boring. The low-slung vehicle is designed to work in the low-ceilinged tunnels of a mine.

The power miners sets caught my initial interest but I think it’s the scalability that I have disliked. For example, the Titanium Command Rig and the Rock Wrecker. The command rig is HUGE with a small dril int he front. The rock wrecker could never go forward because the saw blades on the side couldn’t cut anything because they are on the size, nothing in the front.

Ok, I admit I’m trying to apply real-life physics and basic “realism” to lego power miners. But that’s exactly why I think Marek’s excels. I also think the added dirt behind the front wheel was a perfect addition.
