A new LEGO Shop exclusive set, LEGO Pirates 10210 Imperial Flagship, was announced at BrickCon 2009 earlier this evening.

All hands on deck! This amazingly detailed and realistic historical ship has three removable sections. The main hull contains 4 firing cannons, ammunition crates, muskets, torches, cannonballs, a prison with a rat, a fully-equipped ship’s kitchen, working anchor, moving rudder and a saw shark figurehead. The front deck has an opening door to the inside of the ship and sails with masts and rigging. The back house deck has opening doors to the captain’s chambers containing a map, poison bottle, organ and a treasure chest full of jewels and gold. I’ve been on the fence of buying the pirate ship for a post-apoc project… but this would work so much better.

Funny. On the “Death of pirates” post I mentioned it would be cool if they had a UCS Pirate ship. Still has big honkin haul pieces but, not as bad as past ships. May get.
Technically, it’s not in the Pirate line, it’s an exclusive. And the Pirate line will be sleeping for a while starting mid 2010. This on the other hand will available on jaunary before the mid 2010 deadline of the Pirate line :) So nobody lied to you Pirate fans ;) We may have twisted the facts a little bit but I’m sure you’ll understand that.

Is it too early to declare this the best LEGO ship ever? I have a huge fondness for the Black Seas Barracuda… but this is incredible. Look at the spars! Two entire decks! Multiple cabins! I was going to breakdown all my pirates 2009 sets and store them, but with this coming… wow… All I can say… wow…
The kids today are going to be very lucky to have THIS to look back on!
This is kind of bittersweet for me. Having had a look at this ship I’m just blown away. The pictures make it even cooler. However now that I’ve seen the boat and it’s not officially pirates it feels like a slap in the face. It’s not as if you can pretend this isn’t part of the pirates line. It was obviously modelled to be a pirates release before TLG pulled the plug. I’m not saying I won’t buy two of them, just that I’ll be frowning while I do.
