The Prince of Persia movie promises to have just about as much cheese as sand. For a certain segment of our readership, it also promises a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal saying his lines with a British accent. In the meantime, LEGO gives us this version of the trailer using only the new sets — and some sand.
The LEGO trailer does give us a glimpse of a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal minifig, so that’s something…
Somehow I doubt this was actually made by LEGO…
True enough — they often farm these out to brickfilmers like you, don’t they? Do you know who the actual person was who made this?
I meant more that it doesn’t have the LEGO logo anywhere in the piece, and there’s no like “LEGO and the LEGO logo are registered trademarks of the LEGO Group” disclaimer at the end. Researching now…
Ah, I see what you mean. We got this from TLG, though, so all indications are that it’s “official.”
Well, the animation could have been better, but other then that it was kinda cool.
per http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2010/04/26/prince-of-persia-lego-trailer/ this was created by Brian Jacks a producer at MTV News and his colleague Matt Harper in their offices over the space of 3 weeks.
^ Sigh. Thanks for tracking that down — it wasn’t actually very hard, I see now, since it was on the same site as the clip itself. Lesson #354 on why you should always double-check (and clear any ambiguities in) information that you get from Marketing. ;-)
So you are gay Andrew?
^ No, why? Are you homophobic?
Why would andrew be gay? &-$
Mmmm. Shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal.
^ Illustrating my (somewhat subtle) point that not all of our readers, nor even our contributors, are male…
Give me 2 months and all the Prince of Persia sets and I’ll make a smoother film ;)
Or just give me the sets lol
Not as good as dark knight lego trailer
I like when he slams into the wall at the end.
I also doubted the validity of the ‘made by LEGO’ claim. Dodgy frame rate and obvious transition from baseplate to sand just reeks of newbie brickfilmer…
