Though I prefer to earn my experience, medals, and achievements the old-fashioned way, I never cease to be impressed (and mildly amused) by those who design LEGO robots to accomplish their video game goals.
Guy Himber built a robot to get the Onyx Active Reload medal in Gears of War 3 (watch him get the medal).
Meanwhile, Justin built his own robot to max out his restoration level to 100 in Skyrim.
What do you think? Fair play or hax0rs?
If games insist on giving people rewards for RSI then I say more power to those who use their brains to save their aching wrists.
As they say, “All’s fair in love and war.” This is where Lego purists will smile and gaming purists (if such a group exists) will be unhappy.
It’s both fair play and haxors, least in a single player game. Play the way you find fun.
I don’t see any problem with RSI-reducing Lego techniques. Hey, I even used it for the Lego Wii Star Wars game (though less sophisticated): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnmkbeba6f8
I love lego and video games, and I don’t mind finding shortcuts to achievements.
But i’d rather get level 100 on two handed weapons in Skyrim than 100 on restoration. When the guard tells me “the gods gave you two hands, and you use them both on your weapon, I respect that” it means more to mean than “I see you are good at brewing potions, can you brew me an ale”.
use your mindstorms to gamerscore if you want. I’d rather slay a dragon with my warhammer than my nxt. And i love em both. Sit, chunky sit (my scorpion nxt.)
