Images for the upcoming 2014 Disney Princess line have been revealed, giving more detail into the new line of sets. As you can see, the figures are closer to the Friend’s line. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking, because my inner-child has nothing more to say than high-pitched squeals of delight.
41050 Ariel’s Amazing Treasures
41053 Cinderella’s Dream Carriage
41054 Rapunzel’s Creativity Tower
41055 Cinderella’s Romantic Castle
Obligatory whiny fanboy comment; I’d be far more interested in these if they were minifigure based.
not that I am even remotely the target audience of these sets … but it would be really cool to see a set featuring Maleficent or the Evil Queen from Snow White (or for that matter whomever locked Rapunzel in that tower)
Some cool new parts and older parts in new colours. Could prove very useful. I’m particularly liking the amount of tan a lighter blue shades in these.
Where is Tiana, Pocahontas, and Jasmine? It’s frustrating that Lego chose not to make any of the non-white princess characters. As a parent I want my children to be aware of different races. I would not buy any of these sets until they diversify their offering.
Usage for those wheels in the carriage set: the classic movie H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine (or The Big Bang Theory episode that featured that time machine).
@gedren_y I had exactly the same thought.
…Continuing issue with the Princess line:
WHY THE HELL MUST EVERYTHING BE PASTEL PINK AND PURPLE AND FILM-INACCURATE? I will probably get these for the figures, but GODDAMIT DISNEY AND/OR LEGO, WHY.
@peterab and RobbieValiant:
Are you guys kidding? (I daresay these are for the girls.)
@Brick Thought:
They have plenty of race variation in the corresponding Friends sets, and I’m sure they’ll get around to it here. They’re probably just going for the statistically more popular characters first. I notice that Belle and Aurora are missing too, not to mention the whitest of them all and the very original Disney princess, you know who.
Personally, I think that these are simply ingenious on Lego’s part to continue reaching out to the girls. Seriously, who needs Olivia and Mia and whoever else, when you can play with princesses in all their love stories?
I’m pleased to see more FriendsMen, and Friends in dresses. The more variety among Friends, the more useful they become. And those gold wheels are awesome. (I’m thinking Steampunk.)
Things can be “for girls” without being pastel/purple/pink, you know.
